The lush green forest around the residence is left largely untouched and a sensitive approach to building the house ensured that damage of construction was as minimal as possible.
The design of this exquisite holiday home moves away from unnecessary excesses and relies on simplicity of form frugality of material and durability crafted to withstand harsh local weather. At its heart this is simply a large protected veranda that is surrounded by a rainforest!
This part of the project was designed keeping in mind the needs of one of the clients who is an artist and an art collector. This clever placement of individual units creates a central courtyard which brings the outdoors inside.
Sitting in between the horse stables and the training and exhibition field the cantilevered design of the three structures also allows for free passage of traffic below. The first volume acts as the roof for the main terrace while the second houses the bedrooms. It is the third volume that contains the guest bedrooms and other social spaces.
Creating a hub of green amidst the urban jungle around it it is the private courtyard of the house that ends up being the showstopper. A 375 square foot rooftop garden complements the lush green courtyard below beautifully even as deciduous trees provide plenty of shade during hot summer days.
